- Foundations of Business Management3 CH / 4 ECTS
This course focuses on the management of organizations. Students analyze the skills and functions needed by managers to run efficient and effective organizations, considering issues of motivation, communication, leadership and strategy. Participants cultivate an understanding of the skill and functions needed for successful management, as well as the importance of effective communication and how to develop it throughout organizations.
- Business Environment3 CH / 4 ECTS
This course introduces students to the business environment of global firms, helping students to understand concepts related to the international economy and globalization. Students will learn how international companies operate in the broader context of global politics and economy and of their role in society. The course will equip students with the ability to formulate, implement and decide on strategies to enter and compete in the global market place, while being aware of the broader economic, social and political context.

Legal forms of business organizations, and the pros and cons of various forms of organizations, are considered, enabling students to differentiate between terms like revenue, profit and costs. This understanding enables an analysis of financials and is imperative for taking key investment decisions involving financing, investing, working capital and dividends. Students will learn how to elucidate the role of finance in business, classify risks inherent with business, evaluate the most effective ways to acquire funds from financial markets and examine current events that affect the business environment.

This course focuses on the development of effective business models through marketing, emphasizing the design of customer-driven strategies. Students learn to explain the key changes in the political and cultural environments, explain how companies identify attractive market segments and choose a market-targeting strategy, and discuss how companies differentiate and position their products for maximum competitive advantage.
- Boosting Creativity1 CH / 2 ECTS
In this seminar, students will learn techniques for improving their creativity in business situations, with a focus on problem-solving activities. This seminar will also explore various methods employed by managers and organizations to create and sustain high levels of innovation in product and service creation. Topics covered include creative thinking techniques, idea selection, brain-storming, working conditions that facilitate creativity and disruptive innovations. Students take part in practical hands-on activities that place them in competitive and creative situations.

Students analyze the necessary framework for developing and maintaining new product development capabilities in the corporate world. This course gives students an understanding of the nature and of new product development, while highlighting the importance of sustainability, corporate social responsibility and ethics in new product development and management processes.
- Strategic Management of Innovation3 CH / 4 ECTS
Innovation management establishes a framework for developing and maintaining innovation and new product development capabilities in the corporate world. In this course, students will learn the complex processes behind innovation management and how to define innovation strategies within the context of a firm. Course subjects also include intellectual property, managing organizational knowledge and business model thinking. Classes are undertaken within a practical problem-solving environment with dynamic class discussion to help students build on theoretical learning and reading.
- Intellectual Property3 CH / 4 ECTS
This course focuses on the body of intellectual property law governing the types of issues that students can expect to encounter in their roles as managers, consultants, and entrepreneurs. Students will gain an understanding of licensing agreements, copyright laws and the various forms of intellectual property (e.g., trade secrets, patents and trademarks). The lifecycle of a startup – from invention and early assessment, through incorporation and product development, through growth, and on to a major financing event or exit strategy – is used as a framework to analyze the intellectual property and innovation legal strategy behind creating and executing a scalable and repeatable business model.
- Customer Centric Strategy3 CH / 4 ECTS
Understanding the customer is a vital component to evaluating the effectiveness of marketing strategies and techniques. During this course, students develop a holistic view of the customer experience, analyzing tangible and intangible facets that serve to satisfy and even exceed expectations. They will also gain an appreciation for the business imperative to shift from transaction-based to relationship-based marketing and focus on specific strategies for incorporating a customer-centric focus into a firm’s operations.
- Authentic Leadership Seminar1 CH / 2 ECTS
Organizations are increasingly aware of the importance of intellectual and human capital. Leadership and trust are two drivers of human capital development. Trust is at the heart of organizational and personal issues and rests on rational and emotional foundations and on contractual and affective exchanges. Students focus on the attributes needed to become a leader, such as the awareness of strengths and weaknesses, both in the leader and in others.
- Entrepreneurship Strategy3 CH / 4 ECTS
The course draws upon and applies key theoretical stances and concepts of the general body of entrepreneurship knowledge base and understanding of ‘best business entrepreneurial management practice.’ It is predominantly oriented toward the new venture start-up process: how entrepreneurs identify a business development opportunity and creatively work initial ideas to commercial reality. It also fosters wider student perspective and understanding of entrepreneurship in its embrace of entrepreneurial behaviors and capabilities beyond new venture start-up into sustained business development.
- Entrepreneurial Finance3 CH / 4 ECTS
The goal of entrepreneurial finance is to provide the main elements necessary to make better investment and financing decisions in an entrepreneurial setting. In this course, students explore core issues faced by entrepreneurs, such as the funding process and financial models. This is elaborated across the venture's life cycle, with a deeper understanding of the various types of investor, the cost/benefit ratio of each source of funding and the links between a venture's financing strategy and its product-market strategy.
- Private Equity and Venture Capital3 CH / 4 ECTS
Students gain an understanding of how venture capital and private equity initiatives work in the funding of startups, throughout different phases of development. The application of valuation models is analyzed and students gain an insight into the capital required at each stage, based on the venture value. Furthermore, an examination of the due diligence process helps to identify the main value components.
- Strategic Management of Growth & Exit3 CH / 4 ECTS
This course provides a survey of international business management in the context of the increasing economic interdependence of nations. Students examine theories of international business in conjunction with strategic planning, intercultural factors, foreign management techniques, and political risk analysis. Furthermore, they explore the frameworks, ideas and concepts that underpin strategic management and draw upon key strategic management principles and methods to foster better understanding.
- Effective Negotiation1 CH / 2 ECTS
Negotiating is part of our personal and professional daily lives. This is an expected skill within the organization. Being an effective negotiation promotes career development. This course invites students to develop negotiation skills, study elements and tactics of negotiation and discover the stages of negotiation. The main objectives of the course are to help students build and strengthen negotiation skills by developing an analytical understanding of business negotiations, so they can become more effective negotiators and problem-solver, understand negotiation tactics and stages and prepare and manage a business negotiation.
