Undergraduate Study Programs at European University Barcelona
European University – The Business School in Barcelona, Spain
European University Barcelona was one of the first business schools in Spain and Europe to implement the standardized degrees required in the European Union by the Treaty of Bologna and strives to maintain its position as a leader in offering the most dynamic programs available.European University Barcelona undergraduate bachelor programs last 3 years (6 semesters) and are designed to provide students with the strongest possible tools and training for immediate entry into the global workforce or to continue their university studies in any competitive post-graduate study programs.
Programs are flexible and dynamic and take into consideration the individual needs of students as well as the rapidly changing demands of the global business market. Students receive constant assessment in a very nurturing environment where contact with professors in maximized due to the small size of the classes (20-25 students).
All bachelor degree study programs are given in English with classes taking place Monday to Friday during the day. Starting dates for the undergraduate bachelor programs are in October, February, June and August.
The first year of studies in any undergraduate bachelor program at European University Barcelona lays the theoretical and practical foundations for the study of business. It focuses on developing a broad understanding of the functional business areas of Marketing, Accounting, Management, Finance, Information Technologies as well as sound communication skills. The courses are virtually identical for all programs during the first year of study and students choose their major specialization at the beginning of the second year. Upon successful completion of the required courses, students obtain a Diploma in Business.
The second year courses build upon the knowledge and core skills acquired in the first year, and introduces to the timetable the chosen major specialization. They provide students with an in-depth understanding of the complex business environment and help them develop flexible business thinking and effective managerial skills. In addition, this year is an introduction to the respective major of study, offering a number of specialized courses. Upon successful completion of the required courses, students obtain an Advanced Diploma in Business.
The third year of study further develops the students’ knowledge and skills acquired in the second year and prepares them for immediate entry into a business entity. It is also the moment when students complete the requirements for obtaining a specialization in a specific area of business. Upon successful completion of the required courses, the preparation and defense of a thesis and two final cases, students obtain a Bachelor Degree.
Furthermore, European University Barcelona provides two intensive summer semesters that give students the opportunity to complete their undergraduate bachelor degrees faster, i.e. in two and a half years or less if they take one or both of the summer semesters.
As part of the course requirements, students also participate in industrial visits to a variety of different national and multi-national companies and also benefit from having guest speakers visit the business school. These unique experiences contribute to the understanding of the practical aspects of business that European University Barcelona recognizes as the “missing link” between classroom theory and the practical reality of business.
Upon graduation from European University Barcelona, students emerge from their EU experience with all the advantages of a sound, dynamic curriculum, practical business experience and essential business contacts; all part of what has made European University Barcelona an innovator in business education for more than 35 years.
Our university provides its Bachelor degree graduates with the option of immediately joining EU’s Master of Business Administration program thus allowing them to start their professional career with an MBA only four years after high-school graduation. Our MBA program is a 3-term/1-year course of study which covers the main fields of business at an advanced level and provides specialization in a specific area. In addition, our students have the possibility of doing a part-time MBA in 2 years (6 terms).
